While not everyone is interested in or has the time to earn an MBA or business certificate, all physicians need to be able to read and understand a spreadsheet, develop and manage a budget, negotiate effectively in order to meet today’s greatest challenge – delivering safe, effective care to your patients at a low cost.

The Office of Continuing Medical Education in partnership with Essential Seminars for Physicians (ES4P) is excited to offer a new, modern, asynchronous education program that covers the aforementioned core business principles.  This program consists of video-based lectures accessible from the desktop or from a smart mobile device. The program is flexible and allows individuals to participate in individual courses, pre selected packages or the entire library. AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM is also available.

ES4P is a team of business and medical professionals dedicated to teaching physicians business aspects of medicine.

The managing director of ES4P is Paul Gurny MBA, MS who helped create the original Business of Medicine program at Hopkins a couple of decades ago. He has also served as Deputy Secretary for Health Care Financing in the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  This marriage of business and medicine is critical to the development of a program that is based on sound business theory yet presented in a manner such that physicians can relate, learn and grow in their knowledge and ability.
